Boy do we have a treat for you tonight. The battle of two hot teams. Your Amherstburg Admirals are on a two game winning streak, having scored nine goals in that span. The Dresden Kings have won three straight, scoring 18 goals during their streak. What does that tell me? It’s going to be a high scoring affair in all likelihood.

The Admirals are coming off a wild game Friday night in Belle River. After falling behind 3-0 in the first period, they fought their way all the way back after new guy Jordan Luciw scored with less than a minute left to tie the game against his old team. Veteran defenceman Ryan Jones scored the winner in overtime. Let’s hope the Admirals can ride the momentum from Friday and start strong here tonight. Chris Wallace will get the start in goal.

The Admirals catch a break tonight as Dresden’s leading scorer Mike Myers won’t be in the lineup. He has four goals and two assists during the team’s winning streak. Brent Paxton will be in net for Dresden.

Let’s check the lineups!

Let’s go Admirals!

17:31: Some back and forth action, but no real scoring chances yet for either team.

16:45: Rutckyj gets a weak point shot on goal and Spada jumps on the rebound. Paxton keeps the puck out.

14:08: The Dresden winnger gets a step on Conor Rennie and he’s forced to haul him down. Admirals will be shorthanded for two or less.

13:50: From bad to worse. Morand gets tangled up in the corner and gets called for roughing. Admirals down two men now.

11:50: Admirals kill off both penalties. Dresden never even came close to scoring, Great penalty kill.

9:30: Mad scramble out front of the Amherstburg net and The Kings get three or four wacks at it. Some good saves by Wallace there.

8:28: A few good chances for the Admirals, and after Spada feeds Copeland  out front he gets drilled with a cross check. We’ll get out first PP of the evening.

7:44: A wicked no look spin-o-rama pass from Matoski to Copeland. Copeland’s shot hits Paxton’s shoulder and then the post. It was sitting on the line but no one could bury it. What a chance.

6:28: Numerous grade A chances for us on the power play. No idea how we didn’t score on that one.

4:52: Good shift for Levac-Laframboise-Bachynsky there. It’s been all Admirals the last 10 minutes or so.

2:08: A little scrambley in our own end and the shift ends with a tripping penalty on Spada. Shorthanded once again, but the PK has looked good so far tonight.

0:41: Some unbelievable work on the PK by Sobocan and Gagnon. It leads to a great shorthanded chance for Sobocan and he NEARLY beats Paxton through the five-hole.

17:53: Admirals pour on a little pressure and Dresden is forced to ice the puck.

17:42: Wallace makes a great stop on a side-to-side one-timer from the slot.

15:44: 1-0 Admirals
Rennie hits Gangnon with a pass as he’s coming off the bench. Gangnon walks in and fires a shot that beats Paxton over the glove as he’s falling down. That was pretty.

14:49: 2-0 Admirals
Add another one! A scramble out front and Beattie puts it away. What a shift from this Beattie-Sobocan-Gangnon line!

14:27: Prymack trips Clements and he crashes into the boards. He’s helped off the ice. Scary moment there, we hope he’s alright. Prymack gets two for the infraction.

12:59: 3-0 Admirals
Sobocan just scored the craziest junior goal I’ve ever seen. Puts the puck between his legs then pulls it back to his backhand and beats Paxton. Shorthanded. Jaw-dropping. Incredible.

10:52: Sobocan and Gangnon have been on the ice for all three goals. What a game so far for that duo.

10:14: 4-0 Admirals
This is turning into a blowout real quick. Cole Levac beats Paxton for his first ever junior goal. Congrats Cole! Paxton’s night is done. In comes Jamie Morreau.

10:01: We’ll be shorthanded again though, as Beattie goes off for slashing. Gotta kill this off to keep the momentum going.

4:54: Passes are getting a little sloppy but Dresden still has yet to mount any serious offensive pressure this period.

3:26: Yikes. Ritchie drills Prymack from behind. That was nasty. He’ll get two minutes and a game misconduct for that one.

0:25: 4-1 Admirals
The Kings get a late tally. Another scramble out front and the third wack by Ritzer finally crosses the line.

0:02: Laframboise and Bachynsky get one last chance before time expires on a nice cross-crease pass but Morreau keeps it out.

19:10: Rutckyj strips the point man of the puck and walks in on a two-on-one with Copeland. Copeland’s one-timer is stopped by Morreau.

16:24: France off for holding the stick and the Admirals will get another power play.

14:18: A one-timer by Spada hits Morreau on the shoulder, then the crossbar and then sits on the goal line for what seemed like an eternity before getting cleared away.

10:30 Beattie hits Esselment up high, he responds with a slash and they drop the gloves. Tempers starting to flare a bit, obviously. Beattie gets an extra two for head-checking.

10:05: 4-2 Admirals
The power play doesn’t take long to strike. After some good puck movement on the outside, Cato feeds Sisson out front and he puts it past Wallace.

9:49: Copeland gets a breakaway off the draw but his shot is gloved by Morreau.

8:56: Cato gets two minutes for unsportsmanlike. Admirals back on the power play.

7:15: 4-3 Admirals
We’ve got ourselves a game now. Sisson beats Wallace for the second time tonight, this time shorthanded and the Kings are within one.

6:51: Matoski gets hit up high with a stick and Vanrabaeys heads to the box.

4:40: Great pressure on the power play but the Admirals can’t beat Morreau.

2:46: Great shift from the Luciw-Matoski-Copeland line. Kept Dresden pinned in their end for the entire duration of the shift.

0:57: Kings pull their goalie. Here we go.

The third period wasn’t pretty, but the Admirals are able to hold off the Dresden Kings and win their third straight! Three point night for Luke Gangon and that whole line of Gangnon-Sobocan-Beattie was terrific all night long. Thanks for reading folks!
