The Live Game Blog is back tonight as your Amherstburg Admirals host the Mooretown Flags.

The Admirals are looking for their fifth straight win. Things are clicking right now for us, especially the special teams. After scoring twice on the power play last night, it is now ranked number one in the league, and the penalty kill is ranked number two.

Klinton Kenny gets the start tonight after looking strong in relief the past two games. At the other end, Brandon Johnson gets the nod for the Flags.

Let’s check tonight’s lineup for your Admirals!

It’s almost time for puck drop. Let’s go Admirals!

FIRST PERIOD

18:22: Early pressure from the Carter-Rutckyj-Eady line. They’ve been on fire lately. Looks like it’s going to continue tonight.

17:35: Mooretown has been forced to ice the puck a few times already. Amherstburg is carrying the play right now.

16:32: Huge hit by Prymack in the neutral zone. Not the first time he’s done that this year. Won’t be the last.

14:19: Gagnon does a nice job to strip the defenceman of the puck but then runs into Sobocan. Thankfully both players are okay.

14:10: Right off the draw Laframboise takes a holding penalty. The penalty kill has been fantastic all year. Let’s hope for more of the same.

13:09: Gagnon and Sobocan go in on a two-on-one but Johnson comes up big.

11:40: The puck takes a strange bounce and ends up on Carter’s stick. He can’t bury it though.

11:34: Shortly after Carter gets called for tripping. PK number two.

9:34: A big shot block by Copeland just as the penalty expires.

9:15: Now the Admirals will get a shot on the power play. Lumley goes off.

8:15: Sobocan gets the first real chance on the power play, Johnson keeps it out.

7:15: The league’s best power play fails to convert on its first chance of the night.

5:47: But they’ll get another chance here. Hayes for high-sticking and Schroeter for unsportsmanlike. Five-on-three.

5:02: Now Campbell is off for a head-check. Time for the power play to really go to work.

3:30: Sobocan with a beautiful pass to Gagnon but Johnson makes a jaw-dropping save. It’s a barrage of shots right now.

2:02: 1-0 Admirals
Johnson loses his mind as the ref points to the net. He didn’t think it went in. Tough to tell. Regardless, the good guys take the lead with another power play goal. Brooks gets credit.

1:10: Beattie goes off for holding. Tough to complain considering all of the power plays, but that looked like a weak call.

0:34: But it won’t last long as Lyle goes off for interference.

SECOND PERIOD

19:00: Some nifty moves by Matoski but he can’t slip it by Johnson.

18:28: Brown fires the puck into the defenders shins and is forced to haul him down. Back on the penalty kill we go.

16:08: A beautiful pass by Matoski to Copeland and it leads to a Mooretown penalty. I think it’s time for the best power play in the league to strike again.

14:17: It’s a penalty fest tonight. Hamilton crashes the net and runs over Johnson and he’ll get to sit in the box for two minutes or less.

14:05: Kenny makes three or four big saves and Morand takes a cross-checking penalty at the end of the play. We’re down two men.

13:06: Eady gets a shorthanded breakaway but Johnson robs him with the glove. What a chance that was.

8:33: Another great shift from Carter-Rutckyj-Eady, and it ends with a great chance as Carter got a nice tip on the point shot. Johnson keeps it out.

7:04: Great pressure by Mooretown and Sobocan is forced to take a tripping penalty.

6:49: Lyle negates the power play as he goes off for interference. Penalties, penalties everywhere.

2:13: The Admirals get caught up ice and Kenny is forced to make a tremendous save on the breakaway chance.

THIRD PERIOD

16:31: Admirals carrying the play early in the third. I don’t think the puck has been in our end for more than 10 seconds this period.

14:40: Kenny makes an absurd save on a two-on-one. Jaw-dropper, no doubt about it. Unreal.

13:44: This is unbelievable. Almost a carbon copy of the last save.

13:22: 1-1 Tie
Kenny FINALLY gets beat as Lumley puts the rebound past him. Mooretown has been carrying the play the last few minutes.

8:25: Admirals having trouble getting any sort of pressure now. Have to find a way to get the momentum back.

7:14: Prymack breaks his stick on a pass and it leads to a Mooretown chance at the other end. Kenny keeps it out.

5:09: Rutckyj with a great chances but he rings it off the bar. Oh so close.

4:04: This is more like it. Admirals back to controlling the play. Had a couple of real good chances that shift.

2:16: Now Sobocan wires it off the post. Unbelievable pressure from our guys right now.

0:36: There’s one reason why this game isn’t 5-1. Brandon Johnson.

0:00: We’re headed to overtime!

OVERTIME

3:26: Sobocan is so good with the puck. Sometimes I just have to sit back and chuckle at the things he can do.

0:00: Overtime settles nothing and we’re headed to a shootout.

SHOOTOUT

AMH Brooks: Save
MOR Layman: Save
AMH Matoski: Goal
MOR Schroeter: Save

ADMIRALS WIN!
