Welcome to home game number two for the Amherstburg Admirals. Fresh off their first win in franchise history, they’ll look to continue that momentum as they take on the Belle River Canadiens here in Amherstburg.

Only one change from last week’s lineup: Josh Lafromboise is out and James Brooks checks in for his first game of the season.
Here is the lineup for YOUR Amherstburg Admirals!

4. Mark Sobocan
5. Kyle Morand
6. James Brooks
7. Kyler Carter
8. Ryan Jones
9. Steven Spada
10. Connor Rennie
12 Daniel Bachynsky
14. Dan Matoski

19. Brett Beattie
20. Chad Copeland
21. Colin Hamilton
22. Andy Britton
24. Luke Gagnon
27. Colin Leardi
33. Chris Wallace

The team has struggled with slow starts in both of their games, let’s hope that isn’t the case tonight. Take the play to Belle River early and it will pay off. Let’s get em boys!

FIRST PERIOD

18:46: Hamilton off for hooking early. Big kill coming up.

17:18: Admirals doing a good job of keeping Belle River out of their zone on the penalty kill.

16:46: Admirals kill off the penalty without allowing a shot.

14:54: Big glove save by Kenny off the rush.

11:58: Not many chances for either team. A lot of neutral zone play right now.

11:52: ADMIRALS GOAL!
Gagnon gets a rebound off of a blocked Rennie shot and gets it by Polkosnik. 1-0 Admirals.

10:49: CANADIENS GOAL.
A bad giveaway by Hamilton along the boards and Snyder capitalizes. 1-1 tie.

10:04: ADMIRALS GOAL!
Beattie beats Polkosnik with a wrist shot along the ice to give the Admirals the lead back. 2-1 Admirals.

8:32: A huge save by Kenny on a Candiens short-handed chance to keep the Admirals ahead.

6:18: Kenny looking solid. Handling every shot with virtually no rebounds. Really good to see.

5:17: Sobocan will head to the box after slashing a Canadiens player. Not a bad penalty as the Canadiens player was in alone.

5:02: Rennie goes off for cross-checking and the Admirals will be down two men.

4:08: CANADIENS GOAL.
Belle River ties it on the powerplay as Larocque wires a shot past Kenny. 2-2 tie.

1:39: A couple of good chances for the Admirals but Polkosnik keeps the door shut.

END OF FIRST PERIOD

A good period for the Admirals, but we need to cut back on the penalties. Belle River is too good to give them numerous chances with the man advantage.

SECOND PERIOD

18:00: ADMIRALS GOAL!
Steven Spada wires one past Polkosnik’s glove to re-take the lead for the Admirals. That will be it for Polkosnik. 3-2 Admirals.

17:01: CANADIENS GOAL.
Just like that, the Canadiens tie it up after Turner finishes a bang-bang play. 3-3 tie.

14:41: Spada just misses a big hit. That could’ve been ugly.

14:12: Two HUGE stops by Kenny. The jaw-dropping kind.

13:25: And another big glove stop by Kenny off a hard point shot.

11:58: Big save after big save for Kenny right now. Admirals have to find a way to get some offensive pressure.

9:21: Brooks just misses a breakaway pass from Leardi. Leardi ends up getting a shot anyway. No dice.

8:21: Some great pressure from the Admirals on a delayed call. Hopefully that will continue on the powerplay.

6:35: Good puck movement on the powerplay but nothing doing.

4:13: Another good save by Kenny off a bit of a defensive breakdown that led to a golden chance.

0:41: A couple of decent scoring chances late for Belle River but Kenny stands tall.

END OF SECOND PERIOD

Another back and forth period. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game goes right down to the wire. Both teams with chances and both goalies playing well.

THIRD PERIOD

18:32: Kenny starts the period off with another big glove save.

17:08: CANADIENS GOAL
A point shot by Goodchild finds its way through Kenny and Belle River has their first lead of the night. 4-3 Canadiens.

15:54: CANADIENS GOAL
A bad giveaway at the offensive blueline and it leads to a chance for the Canadiens. Shelton buries. 5-3 Canadiens.

15:07: CANADIENS GOAL
And another quick strike. Kenny’s night is done. Not his fault by any means. 6-3 Canadiens.

12:23: Some very brief offensive pressure for Amherstburg. Need more of it.

10:20: Wallace with his first big save of the night.

9:32: Leardi and Carter link up nicely, but Tricker makes a nice save.

7:11: Wallace with another stop. Looks comfortable since coming in for Kenny.

6:40: ADMIRALS GOAL!
Spada beats his check wide and wires one past Tricker. Hopefully it give the boys some life. 6-4 Canadiens.

6:04: Two more great saves from Wallace. Great lateral movement.

1:56: I jumped up thinking Copeland scored. I was wrong.

END OF THIRD PERIOD

The Admirals let up for just over two minutes and that was all it took for Belle River to take over. Disappointing end to a great game. We’ll do it again next Sunday when we host the Alvinston Flyers. Thanks for reading folks.
