An accident has caused me to be a little late getting here tonight, so this intro will be short and sweet.
Tonight we host the Belle River Canadiens looking for our sixth straight win. The team is catching fire, but the Canadiens will be a big test. We need to come out fast and hard.
Scratched for us tonight is James Brooks and Andy Britton.
Let’s go Admirals!
17:19: A great chance for Gagnon out front but he puts it wide. Spada and Long get coincidental minors.
16:13: 1-0 Canadiens
Belle River forces a turnover down low and the puck finds its way out front to James Shelton who puts it past Kenny. Rough start.
14:43: Spada lights up Makaric with a huge hit. Makaric looks shaken up.
13:54: Gagnon receives a great breakaway pass but he’s hounded from behind and doesn’t get a shot off. Looked like a penalty to me.
12:46: Carter hauled down out front and the Admirals will get their first power play. Quite a few chances on the delayed call but Tricker keeps them out. Time for this great power play to go to work.
11:00: Some good movement and passing but no real threat to score so far.
10:19: Admirals can’t score on the power play and now Spada goes off for boarding. Belle River’s turn for the man advantage.
9:50: Copeland gives Makaric a ride in the neutral zone. Rough go for Makaric so far tonight.
8:28: 1-1 Tie
What a play by Prymack. Dumps the puck in shorthanded and stays with it and eventually forces a turnover and puts it behind Tricker. Pure effort on that one. He earned it.
7:41: Now the boys are rolling. Great shift following the goal and Sobocan forces Tricker to make a nice save.
6:51: Carter feeds Laframboise with a gorgeous pass on a two on one but Laframboise chips it JUST over the net.
4:10: 2-1 Canadiens
Kenny makes the first save off a shot on the rush but Larocque picks up that rebound and puts it past him.
1:20: 2-2 Tie
Jones makes a nice defensive play and it leads to a rush up the ice for Matoski. His wrist shot goes off the defenseman and beats Tricker. Big goal.
0:25: 3-2 Admirals
Just a disgusting play by Sobocan. Dances the defender and feeds Spada with a glorious pass and he makes no mistake burying it. Two goals in less than a minute and the Admirals have all the momentum.
19:10: Morand gets called for cross-checking and we’ll be shorthanded early in the second.
18:11: Matoski strips the puck and gets a nice shorthanded chance. Tricker keeps it out.
15:06: Kenny makes a good glove save to preserve the lead. Flashing the leather.
13:05: Laying out to block the shot, Leeming bounces right back up and then Brown breaks up a centering pass.
12:16: 4-2 Admirals
Tricker has trouble handling Laframboise’s shot and Hamilton jumps on the rebound. Three unanswered for the Admirals. Leboeuf will come in for Tricker.
11:36: 4-3 Admirals
But Belle River answers right back. Corp puts it behind Kenny to make it a one-goal game.
10:52: Jones crushes someone (didn’t catch who) but it wasn’t clean. He’ll get two and a ten for head-checking.
8:52: The Admirals do a great job killing off the penalty and remain up by a goal.
8:18: Things starting to get a little chippy. Matoski gets the only penalty as he goes off for tripping.
6:15: Leeming gets his head driven into the ice and Brown gets a 10 minute misconduct and a two for roughing. Belle River gets a minor too so the penalties offset.
3:44: Kenny makes a great save on a one-timer from the slot. What a save that was. Jaw-dropping.
3:18: These two teams don’t like each other one bit. Spada and Long go off with coincidental minors. Brown gets tossed from the game. Not sure what happened there as he was sitting in the box. Spada gets the extra two minutes and we’ll be shorthanded once again.
3:53: 4-4 Tie
Makaric jumps on a loose puck and fires it by Kenny. No chance for the goalie on that one. Hopefully that’s it for the penalties. This game has no flow left.
2:33: Some confusion here. Hamilton heading to the box. Not really sure why. Ref is upset about something though. Hamilton comes out of the box now and heads to the bench. I wish I could tell you what’s happening but I don’t have a clue. Somehow we’re still shorthanded. Might be because the goal was scored on a double-minor power play so even though a goal was scored, the penalty still continues? I’m guessing. But that doesn’t make sense to me, so I don’t know.
18:36: 5-4 Admirals
The goals keep coming as Carter finishes off a nice feed from Eady. What a quick release that was. He blew it by Leboeuf before he even had a chance to react.
17:03: Great pressure from the Copeland-Matoski-Beattie line. Need more of that.
15:17: Another good shift by Carter. He just gets better and better with each game.
14:55: Sobocan causes a turnover right in the slot but gets stopped by Leboeuf. Looked like he was hooked, but no call on the play.
11:48: Carter goes off for interference. For what it’s worth, I don’t like the call one bit. Very weak. And a bench minor for unsportsmanlike. Admirals will be down two men.
11:05: 5-5 Tie
Canadiens score on the ensuing power play. I have nothing more to add. A rain of boos comes from the crowd.
10:48: 6-5 Admirals
Rutckyj buries on a shorthanded breakaway. The place just erupted. As he’s getting mauled from behind, he chips it over the goaltender. Unreal.
9:19: Rennie gets taken down and we’ll finally see another Admirals power play. A goal here would be huge.
7:05: Whaddya know, shorthanded again. Beattie for roughing.
3:20: Admirals have gone into defend-the-lead mode. Everyone is being very responsible defensively.
1:45: Some huge shot blocks by the Admirals. Notably Spada and Leeming.
0:21: After two huge shot blocks, Copeland goes off for tripping. Here we go.
0:04: What a save by Kenny!
That’s it! That sure was nerve racking but, ladies and gentlemen, the Amherstburg Admirals are for real. Six straight wins. Unbelievable! Thanks for reading!
