A five goal outburst in the first period for the Wallaceburg Lakers, including two in the first minute, was too much for the Amherstburg Admirals to overcome Wednesday night in Wallaceburg.

The Admirals were forced to play without a lot of their key players as Curtis Prymack, Conor Rennie, Blake Rutckyj, Jordan Luciw, Mark Sobocan, Cody Leeming, Zach Brown and captain Kyle Morand all had to miss the game.

Two goals by Justin Lindsay and Ryan Gruszka just 30 seconds apart in the first minute of the game got the ball rolling for the Lakers. Lucais Meyskens added another one at 4:38 and Lindsay (3 G, 1 A) beat Arren Romeril (26 saves) for his second of the night to give Wallaceburg the 4-0 lead just ten minutes into the game. That would be the end of Romeril’s night as he was replaced by Chris Wallace.

Brett Beattie scored a shorthanded tally for the Admirals late in the first period, but Lindsay would cap off the hat-trick at 17:24 to give Wallaceburg the 5-1 lead after one.

The only other Amherstburg goal would come at 0:16 of the third period when Luke Gangnon scored his eighth goal of the season but it was too little too late for the Admirals.

Joel Sowinski made 34 saves for the Lakers to earn his fourth win of the season.

The Admirals will be back in action Sunday night when they host the Mooretown Flags.
