The Amherstburg Admirals scored four goals in a span of five minutes in the second period and it was enough to beat the Dresden Jr. Kings 4-3 Sunday night at the UCCU Complex.
After a scoreless first period, Luke Gangnon (1G, 2A) walked into the slot and his shot beat Brent Paxton at 4:16 of the second period. Less than a minute later, the Admirals would strike again. This time it was Brett Beattie who took advantage of a scramble in the Dresden crease to give the Admirals a two-goal lead.
They weren’t done there. Some great penalty killing by Mark Sobocan (1G, 1A) and Gangnon led to another Admirals chance that Sobocan capitalized on. He put the puck between his legs and then pulled it back to the forehand before beating Paxton over his glove.
Cole Levac scored his first career goal at 9:46 of the second to cap off a four goal outburst in a little over five minutes.
The Kings would answer with a late goal in the second period by Kevin Ritzer and two more goals by Taylor Sisson but that’s as close as they would get.
Amherstburg goalie Chris Wallace made 22 saves in the win.
The Admirals travel to Alvinston to take on the Flyers Saturday night as they will look to make it four straight wins.
