A late third period goal by Philip Janikowski was too much for the Amherstburg Admirals to overcome, as they lost 2-1 to the Essex 73’s in Essex.
The Admirals struck first a minute and half into the second period when Blake Rutckyj converted a pass from Steven Spada. The lead would hold for almost 10 minutes, but a goal from Tyler Scott tied the game for the 73’s halfway through the second frame. The Admirals had almost a full two-minute five-on-three power play but couldn’t convert.
The game would remain tied until Janikowski scored off a rebound from a point shot at 15:00 of the third period. Amherstburg wouldn’t be able to tie it up before time expired and lost their second straight game.
Admirals goalie Arren Romeril kept them in it with some remarkable saves against his old team. He finished the game with 37 saves.
The Admirals travel to Wallaceburg Wednesday night to face the Lakers and will be looking to snap this two game losing streak.
